Long before "enlightenment" I was well versed in no-self Dissolving into the pain of childbirth Dissolving the personal Expanding, expanding, expanding No resistance ...
And the expansion continued With no separate self present For the around-the-clock Feedings and diaper changes There was no self to complain Just in-the-moment doings I was 'oneing' with the baby
And many times hence I have dissolved into the cry of another For brief unions Sometimes traveling miles To aid a new mom breastfeeding To help a pregnant mom death her sister To shelter homeless children To offer respite for grieving children To help a new mom birthing God directs the oneings
Oneing happens all the time Especially with small children And pets-- When full investment is a must For their survival Their pain is your pain Their happiness is your happiness Their need is your need But sometimes a oneing ends Abruptly--as in death And we are thrust into The suffering of being separate
Grief has its purpose It is here to empty us Cry it all out For when the body and heart Are emptied Only then is there room for For divine oneing
Only then will the divisions The dichotomies The dualisms end
Oneing is our divine birthright
