The Exodus Begins

The Exodus Begins

Lulled to sleep with lovely stories–
The pilgrims, colonizers, feasting
With the First People, the Founders
After a bountiful harvest

Filled with magical stories–
Of a jolly white man bringing gifts
(With strings attached
So we’d better be nice)

Soothed with the birth of a Savior–
Who comes to end our suffering
We just have to follow Him
And tithe to prove our devotion

Powerful imprintings on virgin minds
Complete with food, music and flashing lights
Which floods our nervous systems
With addicting feel-good hormones

We’ve been played–wake up
In reality, the First People–
The indigenous natives were decimated
55 million killed–90% of their population gone

Santa is a lie–to blind you to
The fat, wealthy white men
Robbing you of $900 billion this year
Merry Christmas …Ho ho ho

And the Savior and His followers
Haven’t saved us from poverty,
Homelessness, violence, climate change…
But will make $75 billion … amen

If you voted for a felon, sexual predator, thief
Perhaps you saw a Santa bestowing gifts
And a Savior to protect you
From their make-believe threats…

Wake the fuck up!

Withdraw your support
$130 billion is spent between
Thanksgiving and cyber Monday
Resist. Stop. Get help. Get hugs.

We can’t afford to stay addicted
People are dying from their greed
It is okay to be uncomfortable
Go small, go simple…stay awake.

Love you.
