I had a thousand fears/excuses for not walking you–
Coyotes, my knees, my back, squirrels, your strength, mountain lions, dogs off leash…
All of them valid–
We just lost your brother
And I couldn’t lose you
But your sad eyes
Pierced my heart
And your eager
Wiggle butt dance
When you saw your leash
Was infectious
My resistance melted
And there was only love.
