I have always seen
Females as trees
And trees as female
Some offer shade
For the weary to rest
Some feed us
Offering fruits and nuts
And their bark for spice
And their sap for syrup
Some offer medicine
To heal us
Some are flamboyant
Colorful and flowery
Beautiful to look at
Some are evergreens
No seasonal changes
Some bestow wisdom
Like the Bodhi tree
All are sanctuaries
For insects and critters
All are housekeepers
They purify the air
And give us clean oxygen
All are lifegivers
They were never meant
To be sacrficed
For man’s shelter
For man’s convenience
Man has the least sensitivity
Of all of Earth’s creatures
His big brain is a mutation
That has shunted energy
Away from the heart
His instincts are dull
And connection to life
Has been severed
He isn’t sustainable
He is too noisy
His appetite insatiable
His pollution overwhelming
His cruelty unfounded
He will soon be extinct
And a gentler people
Will evolve
We are in the midst
The throes
Of his dying
Watching his desparate
Hail Mary
His attempts to conquer
And control
Other countries
Other planets
Women
Creating AI in his image
No heart, all brain
Pure insanity
But fear not
Mother Nature will out
Birdsong and harmony
Will prevail
