Reflected Light (poem)

Once I was torn
Between basking in the sun
And hiding in the shadows

I learned that
Darkness offers more freedom
Than the light ever will

The seeking of that light
For that ‘see me’, ‘hear me’, ‘know me’
Has left me exhausted

I had to die to that
Light grasping energy
And die and die again

My true nature is darkness
I am not the sun
I am the moon

Here to reflect your light
To sing your praises
And bow down in awe
