I’ve read a thousand books
Looking for me
A phrase here
A poem there
Something that feels familiar
A resonance, a harmony
Not found with family or friends
And I have found me
In the poetry
Of Rumi, Blake, Plath,
Dickinson, Angelou, Hafiz…
Shunryu Suzuki, Watts
Zen and the Tao
Pointed to my nakedness
Marion Woodman
And Alice Miller
Removed a veil of trauma
Becker, Huxley, Rank, Jung
Merton and so many others
Shattered conditioning
And refined my thinking
Daly, Schaef, de Beauvoir, Rich…
Gave strength to my feminine
Clarissa Pinkola Estes
Ran with me thru the swamp
To the rio abajo rio
And Adya, Mooji, Rupert…
Carried me home.
