Heeding the Call

Heeding the call—I looked for God
I traversed mountains and deserts,
Bowed to unholy prophets, slew demons,
Nursed the sick and died a thousand deaths from sorrow—
Only to find—there is no God out there
There is only mind and its illusory projections.

So I changed the channel.

And I challenged authority, saved the whales, raised a child
Danced in fields of flowers, got high in hot air balloons,
Bathed in hot springs and rallied for peace—
Only to find—there is no God out there
There is only mind and its illusory projections.

So I changed the channel.

And I studied the philosophers, the mystics, theology,
Theosophy, psychology, numerology, astrology and self-help books.
I burned my bra with the feminists and healed my inner child.
Only to find—there is no God out there
There is only mind and its illusory projections.

So I changed the channel.

And I meditated, practiced Yoga, became a vegetarian, a Reiki master and decorated my world with art.  I celebrated Gaia, Buddha, Shiva, Jesus, and became a woman who runs with the wolves.
Only to find—there is no God out there
There is only mind and its illusory projections.

So I changed the channel.

And I fell into the rabbit’s hole, met Schrödinger’s cat,
And shattered into the world of quantum physics and holograms.  
Barely alive…barely sane…
Only to find—there is no God out there
There is only mind and its illusory projections….
So I turned off the TV

…and awakened in God.
